The university is a key partner in the FRAM Centre for Climate and the Environment and a founding member of the University of the Arctic network. With world-class expertise across disciplines, UiT plays a central role in advancing knowledge about the Arctic’s past, present, and future.
iC3: Centre for ice, Cryosphere, Carbon and Climate
i2B researchers based at UiT are affiliated to iC3, the Norwegian Centre of Excellence, based at the Department of Geosciences, UiT. iC3 is an international polar research hub, driving global efforts to quantify how ice sheets influence Earth’s carbon cycle, climate and ocean ecosystems in the past, present and future.
