Into The Blue is advancing our understanding of one of the most significant transformations on the planet: the rapid shift toward a “blue” Arctic. As sea ice declines and Greenland continues to deglaciate, the consequences for global climate, ecosystems and societies are becoming increasingly clear, yet major uncertainties remain.

The project brings together new Arctic records with cutting-edge Earth System and Ice Sheet Models to investigate how the cryosphere responded during past warmer-than-present climates, and what this means for the future. By integrating fieldwork, laboratory analyses and modelling, Into The Blue seeks to clarify the mechanisms driving abrupt Arctic change and its far-reaching impacts.

This page presents the project’s scientific publications, reflecting ongoing progress in understanding the causes and global implications of a blue Arctic.
